It’s been a while since I wrote a cookbook review. Let’s see if I remember how to do this…
Description:
Welcome to Bite Club! Where the 1st rule of Bite Club is you talk about Bite Club!
The fans demanded it, so we made it real. We’re bringing our most popular recipes from the Bite Club Kitchens to your table. With over 125 easy to follow recipes, from party foods to savory meals to our favorite boozy beverages, this collection is the best of what Bite Club is known for!
Our cookbook is filled with uncomplicated recipes that do not require any special tools, gear, or ingredients. No advanced techniques to confuse you with… just easy to follow descriptions using appliances you probably have in the kitchen with ingredients you can easily find at your local grocery store.
And who said cooking had to be all serious? Our book is filled with immature jokes, adult humor, puns, innuendos, and good old fashion sass.
We aimed to give our book universal appeal, so it doesn’t matter if you are just starting to get your culinary chops on or know the difference between a roux and a béchamel. Whether you need a meal in 30 minutes or have a weekend to dedicate to proofing bread, there is something in here for everyone! Even the kids! Our recipes are great as printed, but we encourage you to play with spices and flavors to make it your own! That’s how new recipes come to life! Taste is far from universal… so make these your own!
Want to know why certain foods taste so good? Or the secret history of MSG? How about how to use the right oils for certain foods? Our cookbook is filled with tidbits that will make you popular in the “random knowledge” round of your local trivia team!
And because we listen to our fans, this book also includes:
- Recipe conversions to flip the meaty dishes into vegetarian delights!
- Pictures of Mr. J and some backstory to Bite Club.
- Life lessons from the kitchen.
- …and much, much more!
So grab our cookbook, because the 3rd rule of Bite Club is to make food so good, you can’t help but talk about it!
Now…on to the review!
The Good:
Chef Tony and the crew (I’m assuming there’s a crew because there’s a whole lot of we) completely deliver on what they promised this book would be. The recipes are straightforward and there’s no mysterious ingredients or equipment required. The pictures all look so yummy that it took me a while to get through the book because I kept having to wipe away drool. The humor and sass in this cookbook had me giggling more than once. They’re not joking when they say this is a cookbook for adults, by adults. As an adult, I was more than okay with that.
The Bad:
I can only come up with two things. The first? If you’re a bit of a stick in the mud, this cookbook is not for you. There is adult language and adult humor. Avoid this book if that bothers you. You’ll be missing out, but you might be okay with that. The second? Chef Tony personalized the cookbook when he signed it for me. This means that this book will never see the counter in my kitchen. It will go to the shelf of special books. I may just have to order a second book to actually cook out of.
The Summary:
Easy to follow recipes. Yummy photos. A chef that’s not so bad looking himself. Nice, sturdy cover and a lot of interesting tidbits thrown in for those of us with curious minds. This cookbook is as sharp as I bet his knives are.
